I'm going to try to watch this entire hearing but if the first 15 minutes is any indication of the next 5 hours & 45 minutes, I doubt I'll be able to keep at it. Until I cave into common sense and abandon it, I will use this thread to make comments about the hearing. So here goes

Feinstein is crying about the rules. It's not fair....blah blah blah....

And Feinstein goes back to 1991....Will the Senator move into this century. Please. Feinstein still crying about the rules of the Senate...If she hates the rules so bad maybe she should retire....

and within minutes Feinstein breaks the rules and introduces the two new accusers after Grassley specifically said they were not to be included in this hearing.....

Since Feinstein is droning on and I started the thread after Grassley spoke I should comment on his opening speech. It was long. He laid out the facts pretty good but he mispoke a lot didn't help. They have looked into all allegations. So this hearing should be it. buckle up

Ford is now under oath. Someone should tell her the penalty for perjury. I'm sure Kavanaugh already knows.

Fords needs caffeine per Ford. Seems ready to start the wetworks. Should be soon when the tears flow....

Ford reading her opening statement. It's on the internet. Search for it if you want to waste some time rereading when the next dem senator starts droning on.

Ford admits her memory is very spotted. Doesn't know where she was, who was there, when it happened how she got there, don't know who pushed her, and......there's the tears......

a poster reminded me she said she remembered clearly she only had one beer. I remember telling police that when they questioned me if I was drinking.... it was always only one beer

some more tears...catch in her voice....I would imagine it would be hard to step forward especially only after one beer....more tears...the tears come and go. Not sure why...It's like she forgets to cry sometimes.

yes....playing the sympathy card about how bad she has had it since she ruined a man's reputation without evidence and with a spotty memory. either holding back tears or trying to remember if it's time to cry again...not sure....rejects partisan motives.

Let me be clear I'm listening more than watching...So when I say "tears" I'm listening to the voice not watching them fall from her face.... She is done and needs her caffeine. Okay she is good she has her coffee. let's continue on.

moving on. Special consul now asking questions. She is confirming facts such as letters and texts being accurate. Ford is reading the stuff.

Ford is changing her testimony. Saying some of the letter isn't accurate.

Feinstein brings a letter into the record of a 1000 female DR's why 1000 why not 2000? and another letter from 140 Ford's friends. Battle of the letters....Ford admits she host google interns...a connection?

Ford details some of the long term effects...problems with relationship claustrophobia, academic issues....voice is clear and concise...the tears of her voice are gone...now she is telling how she decided to come forward. She blames the press.

Ford says it can not be a case of mis identity . Now going back to her correcting her original letter with the special consul.

SC= special consul....SC is asking her ?? now. Ford admits her being at swimming pool was "best estimate" she doesn't even remember where she was before she got to the house.

smart SC is asking about her feeling about the gathering....Ford clearly can't remember anything....except the attack...her memory is very spotty....

Okay moving to another dem senator....Leahy....he is moaning about the rules.....FBI....blah blah blah.... SC gets 5 mins for each GOP senator....then the dem senator get 5 mins....4 mins :45 secs left for this wind bag....

Leahy trying to get the woman vote....now addressing a "look alike theory" the dems know that is the big threat. Both dem senators have pressed this issue.

Ford....recalling Judge and Kavanaugh laughter as something she will never forget...it was a good point for her side.

Back to the SC.... SC saying how her story is changing on how many people where there. Rechecking her story...she is asking about the music. So far the SC appears to be building up to something. SC caught her in a lie...about the conversation.

Goes over the map. Harris. is asking to delay. until she has documents. They know she was stumbling.... Durbin is now moving his mouth and making sounds....

Durbin still moving his mouth and making sounds ....sounds something like Judge should be here....blah blah blah...Now he is trying to downplay her lack of memory.

Durbin also is attack the mistake of identity bombshell last night, the DEMS KNOW THIS IS fatal for FORD. They are attacking it with every senator. THEY KNOW.

Grassley is pissed off at Durbin.

Okay during this break. Got to ask if I should continue this or find something else to do. I'm not sureeither side is moving the ball. the dems are desperate to shot down the idea it was someone else. They know that's big. SC seems intent to show Ford doesn't remember things.

SC is trying to narrow down the date. Says she said it was mid 80's, early 80's and then summer of 82. Again SC is pounding the fact that she is saying many different things and her story continues to change.

Sc is now asking about her therapy notes. Says Kavanuagh is not listed in the notes. That there was 4 boys listed in the room and that she changed her story to the WAPO

Another dem senator Whitehouse I think is droning on and on and on.....again going for the women's vote. ....blah blah blah....FBI....blah blah blah....Dem talking points...

okay checked the video. Her lawyers hiding the mike and leaning over whispering to each other is very bad optics. Grassley was on the warpath...

SC again confirms that Kavanuagh's name is never mentioned in her therapy notes. PTSD....anxiety. This is great get her talking like a shrink....I see the TV channels being turned around the country...

Sc got her to admit she Flew to DC. twice... so much for the claustrophobia.. as a sufferer you couldn't drag me on a plane without a "gun to my head" If I go on vacation I travel by car.

So Ford flies all over the place but couldn't fly to a hearing last week. She claims they wouldn't come to her. When they said they would. Awesome line of questioning by the SC. That one hurt her bigly...oh yeah another women dem senator droning on and on...

Going to try to listen to both Rush and hearing at the same time. I raised a son I should be able to multitask. Let's see....

Lawyers are speaking...this is bad for Ford. you don't want a lawyer to be the face here. lie detector test conflict. Grassley wants all records. Dems just want to give what supports their case. Grassley not buying it.

Rush is bitching about the SC. I think he is missing it. but I understand his point. It';s kind of stuttered and shaky...however...she is getting results...

SC is really hammering her on why she went to the press. and making it seem this was a political strategy....makes sense.

Ford is not coming across as a very likable person long term. I've noticed a decrease in my own opinion about her as these farce goes on.

SC back. Coons had nothing to say...just droned on. It's good to remember that the media already decided who won before the hearing got started...

Ford is really coming across as scattered brained, air head. her mind is getting tired she says....not trolling.

SC gets her to admit she spoke with Feinstein. before Aug 7th. Ford admits she never gave permission for Feinstein to release the letter. July 30th-Aug 7th she spoke with no other person except lawyers.

Sc again points out Ford is all over the place in her statements. It's clear the SC has made a good case that Ford is not a good character witness. coming across as someone that who can't be trusted on basic facts.

Too funny....Sen Stolen honor is explaining how to be a good liar....not trolling.

It's fun to watch. You can tell what the dems think is a soft spot in her testimony by what they decide to talk about. Her failure to remember things, mistaken identity, and play up the sympathy card. The dems are trying to assist these.

the lawyer interrupting is not a good look for the Ford team. Looks like she is hiding things.

SC keeps going back to polygraph. I think it's important not sure why.

She was flying again from NH this time.....That's a big lie. her fear of flying....big lie....should hammer it.

She doesn't know who paid for the polygraph. bingo.

Rush says her voice garners sympathy. I'll submit to his experience on voices and impact. He knows more than I but to me its grating. half hour brake for lunch.

That last line of questions was very good for the SC. Made it look like Ford or her lawyers were hiding things. She can't remember something that happens two weeks ago but she can remember something 36 years ago? she is failing her bigly.

I think the dems are playing to the wrong audience. Maybe the GOP finally figured out this social media thing. Dems seem to be going for the gotcha/sound bite TV thing while the GOP is playing out a long game that is easily digestible by social media. thoughts?

SC is hammer in on Feinstein. WAPO making it clear this was a political con job.

So far the dem senators are using their time to virtue signal not ask her any questions. Playing up her "heroic" efforts....blah blah blah... and to try to turn the attacks of the GOP.

SC now asking why she picked the lawyers she did. Who recommended her lawyers. When did she request an FBI investigation...Ford can't remember for sure....she guesses

Ford admits her lawyers are working "pro bono" lol....sure they are...

SC is asking who introduced her to kavanaugh. she won't name him. cites Wehlan's tweets. She knows about that but not that the senate offered to fly to CA? Okay....she is dem operative.

Sen. Harris again cites she isn't on trial. this is important folks. the dems understand that they are getting hurt here by the SC. Harris is now again trying to push Ford's heroic effort

I'm sorry but this is looking more and more like she was very coached. Not real. Plus her voice is getting grating. I think that might be another reason why the dems aren't letting Ford talk and instead are just speechifying.

This is the third dem senator that has not asked a question of Ford. they are now playing defense. they know she is a bad witness. They are trying to protect her. They are asking no questions of the witness just blah blah blah... heroice stuff.

SC now getting to the meat....clean up. Feinstein rec Katz lawyer. Sc brings up the fac tthat all the other people there say it never happened.

Ford is trying to explain away why no one remembers the day. not doing a good job...

Sc is now explaining some technical stuff. She is asking if she was advised on what to do. SC is pointing that the dems pushed this not her.

Dems pushed ford to come forward.

Grassley explains all three sworn statements by other people that was suppose to be there and say they were not there. Dems interrupt to downplay this.

Grassley recesses for 45 mins. SC ended questioning. Not as good as a final point as I thought it would be. But she was able to show Ford was a bad witness being coached.

I will probably start a new thread if I decide to pick it up with Kavanuagh.

I'll add a couple more tweets to this thread, as a wrap up. once I think about the last 4 hours.

Some quick after report facts.
1) her failure to remember basic things makes one doubt her story.
2) her flying history makes her seem like a liar about claustrophobia.
3) SC was good in pointing out these things. Pointing out that the dems are paying for her lawyers and team

4) thought the ending was a bit of a let down. SC could have gone for the throat but there maybe something coming later. She set up things maybe for Kavanuagh. don't know. Will see later.
5) dems senators didn't help her. Made it very political. not a good look.

6) Her sitting in between the lawyers was not a good look. Bad optics. Made it appear she was totally under their control whenever both leaned in to whisper to each other.
7) her voice was grating.
8) Ford came off as scatterbrained not a credible witness

9) not sure about a credible victim? maybe to some I'm sure she did. She lost me with her lack of memory on current events. If she can't remember 2 weeks ago how can she remember 36 years ago.
10) GOP strategy looks like it was good idea optics wise. not sure

11) All and all I think the GOP moved the ball down the field. The dems and Ford were unable to give the GOPe senators enough cover to vote no. Remember this is all about Flake, Collins and Murcowski.
12) as long as Kavanaugh does well I think he gets confirmed.

13) there was nothing today that would make people change their minds on either side. Her emotional appeal wasn't real convincing for those that already ? her story.
14) She acted sad on minute and the next she was asking for caffeine. was strange.

15) SC laid out a pretty good case of reasonable doubt. If its innocent until proven guilty Kavanuagh is good to go. If it's beyond a reasonable doubt Kavanugh is good to go. If it's the Salem with Trials Ver 2.0 I don't know.
