Thread: This week has been a game-changer in the Russia investigation.

Before it was fairly reasonable to doubt where Mueller was headed and say maybe he won’t implicate Trump.

There’s almost no doubt anymore. This investigation will implicate Trump in conspiring w/ Russia 1/
First, w/ the Corsi draft plea we learned that Mueller has found collusion.

Stone was in “regular contact” w/ Trump and directed Corsi to get to WikiLeaks, which they knew was a Russian front. And Mueller clearly has evidence to prove they knew that. 2/
Second, the depths of the cover up effort became clear - the lies, the pardon dangles, the joint defense agreements w/ 32, the appt. of Whittaker. You don’t engage in a massive cover up if you’re innocent. Trump’s acting guilty, perhaps b/c he is. 3/

Once again Trumpians were left holding the bag and having to do a clean-up in aisle 5.
2. The GOP yet again over promised and under delivered. Frustratingly this was not for a lack of information or Democratic malfeasance but from the complete mismanagement by the GOP.
3. The GOP lacks strategic courage to do what needs to be done. The GOP twists itself to accommodate & appease the DNC. The Senate Intelligence Committee took the political scandal of the century and distilled it down into a weak & mealy-mouthed critique of the FBI FISA process.

1/ Glenn Simpson’s testimony before the the Senate Judiciary Committee on 22 Aug and House Intelligence Committee on 14 Nov of this year provide a clearer timeline of events during the 2016 presidential campaign and some very important and useful insights into the Steele dossier.
2/ As for the timeline: From these two recently published transcripts we learn that Steele’s first contact with the FBI occurred in London on 5 July 2016. Steele’s London contact would almost certainly have been the FBI’s legat or legal attaché there at the time.
