Maybe I’m ill-adapted to the times, but I think this is a scandal. The President says I want it done right, with no artificial limits or witness lists, and the FBI’s reaction isn’t to say okay or even to seek official clarification—just ignore it til Don McGahn says otherwise??

The Judiciary committee wants ‘current credible allegations’ investigated. Senators said it’s up to the FBI to determine what’s credible. Trump said interview anyone at FBI discretion. Yet WH officials whom no one elected are severely limiting the inquiry. nbcnews.com/politics/polit…
The list of people FBI is allowed to talk to is only four witnesses, NYT reports, and they have to get White House permission to speak to anyone else. nytimes.com/2018/09/29/us/…
They’re going to talk to Judge about Julie Swetnick’s allegations, but they won’t talk to Julie Swetnick.
To sum up, the President, Senators, and the White House Press Secretary have reportedly misled the American people in their public statements about the scope of an FBI inquiry into a Supreme Court nominee credibly accused of sexual assault and lying to Congress.
In fact, despite denials from elected leaders, unelected White House officials who are longtime friends of the nominee have reportedly limited the inquiry to four witnesses (not including Julie Swetnick, Christine Blasey Ford, or Kavanaugh himself).
The FBI has reportedly decided to follow the instructions of the unelected officials, ignoring the president, and feels no obligation to correct the false impression elected officials are leaving about the scope of its work. That’s the news on the FBI background check so far.
