I get the point @dupekilla is trying to make here, however it is faulty to equate the deep loyalty @AsiwajuTinubu get in Lagos as being reflective of the whole of YORUBA. Ondo folks wilk argue for example that they "liberated" themselves without compromising the 'omoluabi' ethos.
On @AkinwunmiAmbode I can't fault @dupekilla submissions, his problem isn't @AsiwajuTinubu his problem is himself. Even Tinubu would have been swept by the revolt from within his own political base. He was smart enough to be led by the mass, rather than lead them. That is unusual
I have been saying it for years, both privately and in public, the @AsiwajuTinubu political structure would have to adapt to modern democratic ethos. The collegiate "baba sope" methods is plagued with contradictions and abuse, thus repeated conflicts. It is only a matter of time.
Even Our great leader Obafemi Awolowo knew when to cede power to the people. The Bola Ige rebellion comes to mind.
We can not redefine "omoluabi" it can not be conscripted to a political party, it is possible to be conservative and be omoluabi and be progressive and be omoluabi.
A number of us are sympathetic to the ideological left in Yoruba land, but really if you de robe the masquerade, what really are the differences between the Yoruba PDP or Yoruba APC. Land ownership is for the benefit of the few, economy of YORUBA circulate within the same elite.
The class structure of modern day YORUBA politicians is modelled after the so called Fulani hegemony style we all have been brought up to detest. Check beneficiaries of goverment appointments, many are family members of Yoruba ruling elite. Omoluabi ethos means equality for all.
.@AkinwunmiAmbode is a product of that contradiction and a victim of same. Hopefully the Yoruba "progressive" will learn from the resistance in Ondo, Kogi and the disaster of almost losing Osun to a clown as a warning shot. The warning being democracy is not a gift, its a right
Yoruba OMOLUABI ethos is not the subjugation of the will of the people to the few. It is Justice for all, equality for all who live and reside in Yoruba land. Fairness in the distribution and allocation of Yoruba resources for all who contribute to Yoruba land. It is PEACE!
Moreso I suspect the conflicts are more apparent now due to the possible power shift to the South in 2023.
Not all yoruba progressive or conservatives have done badly, even with their faults we can still point to some progress, however we can do better or the house will fall.
