But the truth is, Kavanaugh's just the tip of the iceberg.

In January, 17 Florida counties signed Basic Ordering Agreements, which compensate local sheriffs for their collaboration with ICE. Our lawsuit is the first to challenge a Florida sheriff for unlawfully detaining people at ICE’s request as part of a BOA. splcenter.org/news/2018/12/0…

Any one of these would be disqualifying for a Supreme Court nominee.

Taken together, they are evidence that Kavanaugh is unfit to serve on ANY bench.

By raging he's being framed by a Clinton revenge plot conspiracy, Kavanaugh echoed Trump propagandists discrediting Mueller & Russia probe. That in itself is disqualifying from sitting on the Supreme Court. It also proves he won't be an impartial arbiter on those & other matters.
Forget the alleged sexual assault & lies for a moment. Kavanaugh's partisan rant about a left-wing smear conspiracy is so off-the-rails improper for someone whose job is literally to DISPASSIONATELY & fairly interpret facts & law before him. And he wants a promotion to SCOTUS??
Maybe #Kavanaugh's not a conspiracy theorist. But he is consciously echoing Trump. He altered strategy from choir-boy Fox interview b/c Trump didn't like it. Kav's already bending to the executive who named him, like the political operative he is at heart. And will be on SCOTUS.

I'm a sociologist who studies adolescent sexual violence. On this thread, I will be live tweeting the #Kavanaugh hearing, chiming in with sociological insights and research findings.
Full disclosure--I will probably step away for parts of it. While many conservatives have cast feminists as people who rejoice at allegations of sexual assault against powerful men, this is a painful process for us. We know survivors. We are survivors. And I will need breaks.
It does not bode well that the beginning of this hearing is starting with equating #Kavanaugh and #Ford's experiences with harassment following Dr. Ford's allegations. They are absolutely not the same.

Based on what I heard — and didn't hear — from Judge #Kavanaugh at his hearings, and having reviewed his writings and record as a judge, I believe any reasonable person would have cause to be concerned, even fearful, of his confirmation to the Supreme Court.

I will vote no.
My decision is based on:

1) his judicial track record
2) his equivocation on whether presidents should be investigated while in office, even though he investigated President Bill Clinton for Independent Counsel Ken Starr, and
3) what little we have seen of his White House record
Further, this whole process has been outrageous.

My request to meet with Judge #Kavanaugh before the hearings began was denied by the White House. I joined @JudiciaryDems in requesting a modest postponement so I had adequate time to review his full record – that was also denied.
