In this thread, Yascha Mounk draws attention to a new survey conducted by More in Common claiming that 80% of Americans believe that "political correctness is a problem in our country", and that wealthy Americans are most likely to support PC. It's possible, but be very careful.
The exact question asked in the survey is as follows:

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?: Political correctness is a problem in our country.

I'm not a fan of this wording, as there is enormous disagreement in America about what political correctness means.
How do we know this? Well, when pollsters actually provide a definition of PC (e.g. Do you think that people are too easily offended by speech?), far fewer Americans answer in the affirmative. See, for example, a 2016 survey from Pew.

Surveys from Cato (2017) and Harris (2016) also show that while high numbers report concern about "political correctness" in the abstract (70%-ish), significantly fewer say that they personally self-censor. None of this is contradictory, but it should give us pause.
The upshot is that while it may be the case (as @Yascha_Mounk suggests) that wealthy/educated people are more supportive of political correctness than other groups, it may also be that they are operating under a different definition of the term.
