Name one standard hygiene item you expect to always have access to. Mine would be toilet paper. Apparently, the AZ Dept of Corrections doesn’t agree as they have neglected to make toilet paper readily accessible to their female inmates. #LetItRoll THREAD
Remember a few months ago when @AthenaSalman sponsored a bill to allocate funds annually to ADC so that all women in state prisons have access to free, unlimited, feminine hygiene products? And remember how Rep Shope blocked it from moving forward? /1
ADC /2is continuing on with its theme of not treating women with dignity & respect. When asked about the toilet paper shortage, ADC trotted out a similar trope, “It’s not us; it’s them.” They said the same thing when Rep. Salman questioned their feminine hygiene product policy.
Really though, keeping toilet paper in stock shouldn't be an issue for an agency that has a $1 billion annual budget. And it would seem @dougducey is aware of the problem & has done exactly nothing to address it. Ask Ducey why he thinks women shouldn't be treated with dignity. /3
And maybe send the ADC some toilet paper as well, since they seem to be facing a shortage in supply. /4
Side note: Why does Gov. Ducey have such a hard time holding his political appointees to account? He commends ADC director Ryan for “doing good work” despite being fined $1.4 million for failing to adequately provide healthcare to inmates. /5…
He shrugs his shoulders when it comes to his Parks Director Sue Black’s poor treatment of employees and the multiple investigations surrounding said treatment. /6…
He's "not concerned" that a charter school CEO had received an $8.8 million payout. Well, Ducey, I am. How does this #SecureAZ? END
