So I'm at a bookstore browsing the horror section and I see a book that deals with a Catholic boarding school and maybe there's demonic possession and it's by a Seattle area author so I'm like cool and buy it.
And last night I'm having a nice bubble bath and reading my spooky book and 9 chapters in I'm like, ok, this is boring and most of these scenes are filler, so I'm not finishing this. So I skip ahead to see whether there was an actual supernatural explanation or just human evil.
So I'm fanning through the back 6th of the book, and all of a sudden the priest who was clearly set up as being suspicious is saying "Praise Allah."

Spoiler alert, in this book, the evil is Islam.
Like, that's it. That's the twist.

And, okay, it doesn't shock me that some bigot wrote a book that sets itself up as The Exorcist but in a boarding school and the twist was no, it's not the devil, it's Islam, or rather Islam is the devil.
What shocks me is the reviews from mainstream sources. Here's Booklist:
Booklist: "Yeah, it was a good book! Gratifyingly creepy! I mean, some people may have an issue with the way it equates an entire, major world religion with absolute evil, but bah, it was a fun read!"
Oh, and here's Publisher's Weekly, which doesn't even think it's worth mentioning.
Cool, cool.
Like how the fuck does some guy write blatant hate group propaganda like this and mainstream book reviewers are all like, "yeah, good story! yay!"?

UGH.
