In a light-night court filing, the government revealed it had recently identified 14 more separated migrant kids in its custody — three months after a court-ordered family reunification deadline buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…
According to DOJ, seven of those 14 kids are eligible for reunification with a parent; seven have parents with a disqualifying criminal history. HHS spox said an add'l review of records included info added after the original number of kids was tallied buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…
Meanwhile, a lawsuit was filed today in DC federal court accusing the Dept. of Homeland Security of violating federal record-keeping laws in how it handled records about the "zero tolerance" policy and family separations. Link is in the story: buzzfeednews.com/article/zoetil…

NEW: The federal judiciary now expects to have enough money from other sources to keep the courts largely business-as-usual during the shutdown through Jan. 18 (previously it was Jan. 11) — this is the latest from the Administrative Office of the US Courts (HT @hsu_spencer)
In order to make the funds that the judiciary does have (absent a congressional appropriation) last as long as possible, "courts have been asked to delay or defer non-mission critical expenses, such as new hires, non-case related travel, and certain contracts"
DOJ, of course, is already affected by the shutdown, so most judges have been approving requests or issuing blanket orders to delay civil litigation involving the federal govt during the shutodwn (criminal cases still have to proceed as usual)

Some fireworks in court this morning as a judge criticized the lawyer representing Concord Management & Consulting in the special counsel Russian troll farm case for his language and harsh words about Mueller's office in filings — "unprofessional, inappropriate, and ineffective"
The judge told attorney Eric Dubelier that his strategy was "ineffective" and that his approach to filings — including pop culture quotes (see: assets.documentcloud.org/documents/5676…) and accusing Mueller's office basically of lawlessness — was "undermining your credibility in this courthouse"
"Knock it off," Judge Dabney Friedrich told Dubelier. This then led to a heated exchange where Dubelier said he needed to consult his client since the judge had accused of unprofessional conduct, and now there might be bias from the judge. There's no bias, the judge replied.

2/ The same neighbor, Bill Weaver, captured video of up to twenty children around the MVM office last month. He shared those videos with Reveal yesterday. Like neighbors from the first office, Weaver also saw dark-haired children in blue and white sweatsuits.
3/ Two weeks ago, MVM told us it didn’t operate any shelters. A week later, the private ICE contractor acknowledged it sometimes held immigrant children overnight. Now, they’ve confirmed they held children in a second office in Phoenix.
4/ Weaver who used to lease the office that MVM currently operates told Reveal that for the past two years, he’s seen 15-50 immigrant children come through the MVM office and shared bathrooms every day.

Meanwhile, back at home, here's the Trump administration's flow chart plan -- filed yesterday -- to reunify the 2,551 still-separated migrant kids.

They filed it after Judge Dana Sabraw slammed HHS for what he just called, in court, "deeply troubling" pushback on reunifications.
Judge Sabraw *again* just hit the Trump administration in court, saying its pushback to the order to reunify, made by @HHSGov Deputy Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Chris Meekins, was "exasperating to put it plainly."
The Judge says the flow chart is "a good plan" and "a really good step."

He's now hearing from Commander Jonathan White of HHS, who the government's lawyer says is the "architect of the reunification plan."

They're talking about "red flags" that would prevent reunification.
