people liking my tweets isn’t the problem, it’s the white supremacists commenting with my mom’s home address or pictures of me photoshopped with my head blown off.
i can see how that might be confusing for you though, @jack.
an example, if that helps, @jack: the very violent (cw for simulated violence against people & animals, blood) tweet was eventually removed but the antisemitic account that RTed it is still up & posting very antisemitic content!

the account that posted the images *eventually* got suspended, but it wasn’t over that post & it wasn’t before he sent me plenty of replies like this one

daniel borden will be sentenced tomorrow after pleading guilty in may 2018 for his role in the brutal beating of deandre harris on august 12, 2017.
he entered an alford plea for felony malicious wounding - briefly, this means he maintains innocence while admitting he knows the state has sufficient evidence to convict him (because he's, you know, on video committing the crime)

two other men have already been tried, convicted, and sentenced for their participation in this beating. alex ramos & jacob goodwin were convicted in 2018 and will serve 6 & 10 years, respectively.
tyler davis goes to trial next month.

back in january, i was just finding out about elmer woodard, a man who would later call me a terrorist & accuse me of a crime in open court!

I would rather James Fields be reformed rather than thrown away by society. But there are finite resources for reform, and so many more deserving marginalized people to dedicate those to.
Prison abolition and the eradication of white supremacy are the same thing. One cannot address one without the other.
That also means we cannot address prison abolition meaningfully while letting mass murdering and terroristic white supremacists roam free. Their actions have costs in lives.

1. Stoking white racial resentment has long been the key to the GOP turnout efforts. They learned in 1988 that such strategies could help erase a lead as big as Dukakis's 17 pts. But until Trump, many Republicans at least had the decency to feel ashamed about race baiting.
2. GOP leaders eschewed (or outsourced) the more overt expressions of racism--because they knew they were wrong, and they knew they were potentially dangerous to the polity.
3. Watch GWB speaking at the DC Islamic Center one week after 9/11. It's embarrassing and stumbling in many ways...he doesn't know how to pronounce "Islamic," for example. But he's at least trying to say the right thing.

Defeating white supremacy requires making it socially unacceptable to be a white supremacist. There have to be real consequences including losing friends, jobs, status.

It’s exactly what should happen when these monsters expose themselves, and no one should feel sorry for them.
White supremacists killed Heather Heyer in Charlottesville less than a year ago. They beat DeAndre Harris brutally. They are terrorizing people of color every day in every corner of this country. Don’t you dare come around here claiming white supremacy isn’t a real problem.
