Exclusive: The Met Police has begun a criminal investigation into some of the cases contained within an internal Labour party document detailing cases of anti-Semitism obtained by LBC back in September.

Met Police statement here:
The dossier contained 45 cases of anti-Semitism. It was reviewed by former Met commander Mak Chisty. He ran the Met's hate crime unit.

He said four cases constituted race hate crimes.
Mr Chisty said another 17 were race hate incidents. They could be treated as crimes following investigation.
The cases included:

:: The activist who posted on Facebook that a Jewish woman Labour MP should get a good kicking.

:: The councillor accused of inflicting "ten years of hell" on a child, calling him a Jew Boy.

:: The two MPs threatened with being thrown off a building.
After LBC broke the story back in September, Met Commissioner Cressida Dick was at our studios for a phone-in.

She told Nick Ferrari: "Absolutely, if someone makes an allegation… hands us a dossier, we will look at it, we’ll scope it, we’ll see if a crime has been committed."
After the phone-in, the file was handed over to the commissioner and her team.

It was then passed to specialist officers, as the commissioner said it would be.

It has now been examined by those officers, and the decision has been taken to begin a criminal investigation.
It is worth noting the Labour MPs - and others named as victims within the contents of the document - were not told by the Labour Party.

Following our story back in September, @JohnMannMP told LBC he wanted an urgent review to discover why this had not happened.
Finally, the Labour Party statement:

"The Labour Party has a robust system for investigating complaints of alleged breaches of Labour party rules by its members.

"Where someone feels they have been a victim of crime, they should report it to the police in the usual way."
