Two Years Ago Today: Lt Colonel Mohammed Abu Ali, CO 272 TF Tank Battalion of @HQNigerianArmy was martyred at Malam Fatori whilst fighting to save Nigeria from the forces of darkness. Rest in peace & rise in glory
Yeah, first member of the RC 50 intake to attain the rank of Lt Col and to command a battalion (of his father's armoured corps). Eldest son of the Etsu Bassange, Brig Gen (rtd) Abu Ali.
We saw the father and we have seen the son. As military governor of the pre-partition Bauchi State, the father rode the storm that was the massive crisis in the vast Sayawa chiefdom in 1991(was as debilitating as the Zangon Kataf Crisis of 1992)
As a Major, Sarkin Yaki was one of the very first officers who commanded a T72 tank squadron following their induction in Oct 2014, battling all the way from northern Adamawa to Baga between Nov 2014 and Feb 2015
He was again in the thick of it on 1 Sept 2015 when Gamboru was conclusively repossessed.
