Crenshaw is in the news today because a jackass “comedian” on SNL mocked the eyepatch Crenshaw wears because he was wounded in “war or something.”

Why does this Navy SEAL wear an eyepatch?
Crenshaw was on patrol in Helmand province of Afghanistan in 2012 when a Taliban IED blast ripped through his body. The Navy SEAL on his third tour of duty was nearly dead, emergency evacuated and put into a medically induced coma.

When he awoke, Crenshaw was totally blind. Doctors told him he would never see again. Were it not for undergoing risky, experimental treatment — he might not have.
Crenshaw underwent a painstaking & excruciating surgery.

During his recovery - Crenshaw was suspended above the floor, facedown for weeks in order to not put pressure on his fragile eye.
Miraculously, Crenshaw regained sight in one eye — but permanently lost the other.

But this horrific, life- altering physical setback could not stop Crenshaw.
He redeployed, taking the fight back to the enemy, even though he was one eye down. He even learned to shoot with his opposing shoulder to accommodate the loss of his dominant eye.

When he returned home to Texas, Crenshaw married the woman of his dreams, enrolled at Harvard and started living the American dream, eyepatch & all.

Since I personally know this American hero, I thought I’d illuminate for SNL & Pete Davidson exactly why it is so despicable to use his injury as a punchline.
