Colorado passes Amendment A and officially, finally, in 2018, once-and-for-all, bans slavery in this state.
Note that 35 percent of Colorado voters are opposing Amendment A, which bans slavery. One third of the state.
The wording of Amendment A is pretty clear: “Shall there be an amendment to the CO Constitution that prohibits slavery and involuntary servitude as punishment for a crime and thereby prohibits slavery and I.S. in all circumstances?”

35% of Colorado voted against this.
To recap: Colorado in 2016 was asked if it wanted to ban slavery once and for all. It said no. Many blamed ballot measure's confusing language. So organizers came back this year with clearer wording. They won this time. A whopping 2/3 of Colorado thinks slavery should be illegal.
There was no organized opposition to Amendment A, no outside money spent to beat it. Just good old grassroots support for keeping slavery legal.
