A thread about caring and not caring.

This afternoon I was cycling through the city centre when I saw a child I know out cycling. We both greeted each other and I shouted 'safe cycling!'.

A km or so later I saw 5 cars parked on Mulgrave Rd in the 24 mandatory cycle lane
Had strong reason to believe said child would be cycling on this road.

Heart sank. But Madonna del Ghisallo must have heard my prayers as I saw a Garda writing tickets on North Main St.

The following conversation took place.
Me: Hi, there are 5 cars parked on double yellow lines going up Mulgrave Rd
Him: Yeah, more of a county council issue (yes, he said county)
Me: It's a bike lane
Him: Where is it again?
Me: [Describes Mulgrave Rd in relation to North Main St in painstaking detail](a 6 min walk)
Him: Yeah, that's Mayfield, not my division (can't remember exact terminology used here)
Me: ...and
Him: Give them a call about it
Me: there's people out cycling right now.
Him: Yeah give them a call.

I sighed heavily and cycled off.
Madonna del Ghisallo [Patron Saint of Cyclists] wasn't happy with that resolution either.

Swung onto Western Rd and saw a motor bike traffic warden.

Explained the situation to him and he said he would go over straight away.
@corkcitycouncil please pass on our thanks and praise to your traffic warden for his professionalism and integrity.

Deeply deeply disappointed and worried by the behavior of the Garda @CharlieFlanagan.
