The following thread is in response to a liberal thinking Democrat who claimed the US didn't have the world's highest standard of living based on our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rank. He would be wrong. 
Let's see. . . #1 Monaco is rich because of no income tax and as it serves as a haven for the uber wealthy. That's not exactly the result of a progressive tax structure (and can't be compared to the US).
#2 GDP Leichtenstein's wealth attributable to money laundering for South American drug barons, Russian underworld leaders and Italian Mafiosi, according to allegations leaked from a report by Germany's intelligence agency. Hmmm, not exactly something we want to emulate in the US.
#10 GDP Qatar . . . (Out of order) has the population of Houston in an area the size of Connecticut and puts out the equivilant of 11% of US oil production, but it tolerates slavery, imprisonment for gays, punishment for adultery is 100 lashes. Not a Progressive haven.
#3 GDP Luxembourg maintains it's high GDP by being a banking haven to the top 1% of the WHOLE WORLD. Socialist Dems would take care of the lack of taxes in a hurry. So again, this can't really be compared to the US. Luxembourg is simply a bank for the rich people you despise.
#4 GDP Switzerland's extraordinary wealth can be attributed to, well, banking (sound familiar?) and also to using the few natural resources they have (gems, milk) that they craft into BEAUTIFUL stuff AKA they WORK HARD. They also carry guns. And are intolerant of Isl_m. #NotDem
#5 GDP Macau is not really a country as much as the Las Vegas of the world, where you find about 13,000 people per square mile crammed into its casinos. It is where the 1% go to play. It is also a land of pollution and extreme poverty for many. Not a great standard of living.
#6 GDP Norway has a huge land mass full of natural resources like trees, fish, natural gas and OIL that they exploit, and a small population to support. Norway also enjoys conservative leadership and has severely limited the immigration of you-know-who.
#7 GDP Iceland is a land of fishing, tourism, and capitalists with a generous welfare system. However. . . the top 5% of Icelanders share 50% of the wealth. So the quality of living of the bottom 95% may not be reflected in the GDP.
#8 GDP Ireland? What a surprise! It's a surprise to the Irish too, whose Financial gurus have tweaked the numbers. . . "With GDP being about 20 per cent larger than GNP, Irish people appear to be richer that what they might feel they are." Hocus pocus. Dems would fit in here.
#9 GDP Bermuda? Bermuda is a land of money laundering and off shore accounts that protect the financial gains of the One-percent type rich people that live in "progressive" regions like Europe and the US. This does not count as a standard of living above the US. Sorry.
#10 GDP Qatar (Done out of order, see earlier tweet). A land of Rich non-Christians with little freedom due to their extraordinary oil resources. Not a standard of living above ours.
#11 GDP USA 🇺🇸 As I've shown, 50% of "countries" with a GDP higher than ours rely on the greed of the uber-wealthy, 30% of countries do what we do, only are more conservative and/or less tolerant, 10% hoard wealth among top 5%, and 10% lie. That makes us the best. #SorryNotSorry
My research shows that (not surprisingly) @Royaldame1 was correct in her assessment that the US provides the highest standard of living for the most people. . . not just for kings and courts, but for regular people. And I'll answer her. . . you call a country like ours BLESSED.
