The funny thing about @MBuhari supporters is, they say they are building infrastructures. Let me help puncture this reality and how useless this policy is, using Lagos state as an example, since Lagos state was the shining example in 2015 for @APCNigeria
@BillGates was in Nigeria & criticized the policy of @MBuhari , because he felt, how could anyone build infrastructures without a solid human capacity development plan? The Buhari Government was quick to take the criticism with bitter sentiments but let me explain how true it is
The first budget presented by @MBuhari had the highest CAPEX Nigeria had ever witnessed and I stated it then, that the budget will fail. It is very simple, economics is all about flows and income. A high CAPEX at a period of dwindling revenue meant Nigeria was taking a risk
It wasn’t a well thought out risk by @APCNigeria or @MBuhari or @HMKemiAdeosun , if we had dwindling revenues and we had high CAPEX it only means that we want to expend more money that will go outside our economy, since we don’t have the technology and know how for CAPEX
What @APCNigeria @MBuhari @HMKemiAdeosun didn’t understand is, a high CAPEX meant Nigeria has to import technology needed for capital projects & sometimes expatriates to the country to oversee the projects; this means money was leaving our economy at a period revenue dwindled
Now think of it, we don’t have the technology nor do we have the know how of how to get this capital projects done and we imported most of it, what sense does that make economically? @MBuhari @HMKemiAdeosun @APCNigeria policy was wrong and @BillGates was right
Wouldn’t it have made more sense if @MBuhari @HMKemiAdeosun @APCNigeria invested more in education and human capital development with the budget as opposed to the high CAPEX? Wouldn’t this type of policy ensure we have the technology and know how to undertake capital projects?
This is the problem with the @APCNigeria and @MBuhari policy. Capital projects are subject to wear and tear and without the technical know how as regards maintenance, it becomes useless and without a solid campaign plan for maintenance by populace it becomes even more useless
How do you get an uneducated populace to maintain public facilities? How do you prevent people whose mental capacity isn’t developed from vandalism? These are questions people should be asking @MBuhari & @APCNigeria administration as regards their policy of investing in CAPEX
For clarity CAPEX means capital expenditure. So let’s ask @MBuhari @APCNigeria of what use was all the investment on capital projects in Lagos state presently? Isn’t Lagos state presently the worst state in terms of good roads presently? What happened?
How come all the roads tarred in the past in Lagos state have become an eyesore and the state is simply unmotorable? This is the reality of investing in capital projects without investing in the people and education, I hope @MBuhari @APCNigeria learn a lesson from this.
