Dajjal (The Anti-Christ)

Things you need to know about the greatest threat humanity would ever face.
This is a topic that contains a lot of facts and lots of fictions and not a lot of people have knowledge about it.

That is why they’re a lot of misinterpretation and misinformation with regards to the Dajjal.
Our beloved Prophet (S.A.W) talked about the dajjal over and over again, just to highlight the importance of getting equipped with the knowledge of who he is, where he’d come from and what he’s capable of doing.
Let’s look at some of the many Hadith that talked about the dajjal in details, starting from his appearance to his death.

Please if there’s anything you’d need clarification on, feel free to draw my attention to it!!
1) The Prophet (S.A.W) said “There’s not a single thing/affair from the time of the creation of Adam (A.S) to the establishment of the time of the last hour that’s greater than the dajjal.”

Collected in sunan ibn maja.
2) The Prophet (S.A.W) said “That Allah (S.W.T) did not send a single messenger/Prophet except that he warned his people against the dajjal.”

Collected in Sahih Muslim.
3) It was reported in a Hadith that the Prophet (S.A.W) used to teach his companions the dua to protect them against dajjal like he teaches them a verse from the Quran..

In some narration “just like he’d teach them Fatiha from the Quran”
Till date we recite this dua in each and every sallah during the last tashahhud.

The dua is:

“Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabi jahannam, wa min 'adhabil-qabr, wa min fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat, wa min sharri fitnatil-masihid-dajjal”
Meaning:

“O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the mischief of Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal (Antichrist)."
4) This Hadith is one of the most scariest on the list of Hadith that talked about the dajjal and it says

“The dajjal will not appear until people are neglectful and until the imams forget to mention the dajjal on the manabir (Pulpit).”
Subhanallah if you careful think about this Hadith, ask yourself when was the last time you heard a lecture about dajjal in jumma’a khutuba or any lecture.
The reason why this would be a perfect time for the dajjal to appear is because most people won’t know him because there’s no much information about him, and he’ll come with trials that people can’t avoid because they don’t know his tricks.
5) In another beautiful Hadith The Prophet (S.A.W) said

“whosoever memorizes the first 10 verses of Surah Al-khaf will be saved from the trials of dajjal.”
Let’s pause here for a while and think, through out Surah Al-Khaf this not a single verse that talked about dajjal.

Then the question is,

What’s the link between dajjal and Surah Al-Khaf??

Why do we recite Khaf every Friday, not just any other day??
Before you can properly answer these questions, you’d need to know who the dajjal is, that way you can connect the dots.

There’re a lot of narrations about the dajjal, but for the purpose of this thread, I’ll bring to you some authentic narrations in shaa Allah.
Some scholars said the dajjal would be a normal man and then one night Allah decree that he’d be transformed in the dajjal.
In another narration “Some companions of the Prophet (S.A.W) where traveling by the sea and they went through a cave and met something that called him the dajjal.
So there’re variates if narrations on this, but whether the dajjal exists now or not is not as important as knowing what he looks like, what he’ll do and how to overcome his trials.
Let’s see details about the Dajjal..

The Prophet (S.A.W) said the Dajjal will come from a land known as khurasan, and this is a famous land that some scholars come from, such as (Abdullahi Ibn Mubarak (R.A)).

In the present world khurasan Should be around Iran.
As soon as the Dajjal emerges 70,000 people will follow him immediately and they’d become his army
The Prophet (S.A.W) described him vividly, so that when you meet him you’d have no doubt he’s the one.

He started like this

“1) He’d (Dajjal) have two eyes, but he’d be blind in the right eye and the eye would be like a floating grape....
...and the left eye would have some kind of skin covering it like the skin of a grape ( that too won’t be clear).

2) His complexion would be reddish-white. (Like the Irish’s).

3) He’ll have a prominent forehead, it would stick out and you’d notice it.
4) His neck would be wide, according to some scholars they said his neck would be so wide that it would be as if his neck fits into his shoulders.

A typical example are those body builders, when they gain enough muscle you tend to see the neck disappear.
5) He’d have a hunched back.

6) His Stan would be wide.

7) His hair would be short and curly like dreadlocks,

He (S.A.W) added that his short and curly hair would look like the head of snakes.
8) He’d be sterile and infertile ( Unable to have children).

9) if all these informations are not enough then the Prophet added that he’d have 3 letters written on his forehead that each and every Muslim would be able to read, whether literate or illiterate
(كفر) (disbelief).
10) Then the Prophet (S.A.W) described the time the Dajjal would appear, and He said

“3 years before the appearance of the Dajjal, Allah would decree that 1/3 of the rain that comes from the sky and 1/3 of the vegetation on earth to stop coming....
..then 2 years before The Dajjal appears 2/3 of rain and vegetation would stop.

Then a year before the Dajjal appears the rain would stop coming and the earth would stop producing.

So people would be in draught, with no food and water.
Then the Dajjal would appear..

The Dajjal would come in time of famine and he’d order people to believe in him as their god and disbelieve in Allah.
Tricks and Trials of the Dajjal

1) He’d come across a people or a town and he’d say to them believe in me for I’m your lord and the people would refuse, he won’t even bother killing them or harming them, but as soon as he walks away every food they’d stored would be destroyed.
..He’d make sure everything they have vanishes so they see what he can do.

2) Then He’d come across another group of people/village and ask them to believe in him, they’ll all believe and he’ll point to the sky and order rain to fall,....
... then he’d point to the soil and command it to bring forth its vegetation, and it would.

All the things the Dajjal would be doing will be with the permission of Allah (S.W.T) to test people.
3) He’d have with him a mountain of bread and a mountain of meat that would follow him everywhere, so that when you believe in him he’d let you feed from them.
4)He’d have with him two rivers that will follow him everywhere, the first river seems like water while the other is a river of fire (Molten lava).

He (S.A.W) said they’d be deceptive in nature, the one that looks like water is in reality fire, while the fire is water.
The Dajjal would move through every single land on earth like wind driven rain, he’d go to every single land except Makkah and Madina.

The Dajjal would only be on earth for 40 days (literally around the world in 40 days).
His (Dajjal) fist day would be like year, and his second day would be like a month, and his third day would be like a week, then the rest of the days would be like our normal days.
5) Another trial the Dajjal will come with is, when he comes across someone that refuses to believe in him,

He’d ask him “what if I bring back your parents would you believe?”

He’d say “yes” then the Dajjal would order two jinns to take the form of that persons parents...
.. and they’d say “our son believe in him for he’s your lord then he’d believe.”

The Dajjal would continue moving from land to land until he comes to madina at a time when madina would have gates and each gate would be guarded by two angels, with swords in their hands.
Then the Dajjal would go up to a mountain close to madina and then look down onto madina, then he’d point to the mosque of the Prophet (S.A.W) and says that is the white palace of Muhammad.

Please if you have time go on google earth and look up the Prophet’s mosque. You’d see..
Then the Dajjal strike the ground with his fist 3 times, each one causing a massive earthquake.

Then all the hypocrites and disbelievers that went to Makkah and Madina for safety would run out and go to the Dajjal.
There’ll will a young man that will come out of madina seeking the Dajjal, when they meet the Dajjal would ask him “Do you believe that I’m your lord?”

The young man would reply “No”
Dajjal would cut the young man into two halves, then walk in between the halves just to show his followers that the man is dead and it’s not an illusion.

He’ll then call out to the young man with the comman “Qum” stand and the young man would be whole again.
The Dajjal would then ask the man again, do you believe that I’m your lord?

The man would reply “now I’m more certain that you’re not the lord”
The Dajjal would try to chop off the man’s head and it would be difficult for him so out of frustration he’d throw him into that fire like river of his.

The Prophet (S.A.W) commented that this young man would be the greatest Martyr in the eyes of Allah.
At that time the Mahdi (The man that would have the same name as the Prophet (S.A.W)) and the believers would be hiding in their camps in Jerusalem.

The Dajjal would continue his journey towards the last remaining resistance of the Muslims to fight the final battle.
Then the day Allah will decree for Prophet Isah (Jesus) to come down will come, and Isah (A.S) will descend to earth resting on the shoulders of two angels in Damascus.

He’ll then make his way to Jerusalem to the Muslim camps.
Isah would get to Jerusalem at the time of Fajr, when the Mahdi will be getting ready to lead the fajr prayer, he’d see Isah (A.S) then he’d make an attempt to come back so that Isah would lead them in prayer. But Isah would ask him to lead them.
Immediately after fajr prayer, Dajjal and his people would break through the walls of Jerusalem and then the war begins.

They’d fight and fight until the Dajjal sees Isah ( A.S) then he’ll start to melt and dissolve the way salt melts in water.
Then Isah would run after the Dajjal kill him and chop off his head, then show it to his people that he was never a god and he deceived them.

Isah would re-establish islam properly and tauhid in the minds of the people before he finally dies too.
Now that you’ve read about the Dajjal, it’s time to learn how to seek protection from the Dajjal.
How to seek protection against the Dajjal

1) The first and foremost thing we need to do is to learn about our religion, we need to learn different aspects of our religion including the Dajjal.
2) After learning about the religion you hold on firmly to it.

3) learn about Allah, His names and His attributes that way you won’t be fooled by anyone that claims to be god.
4) We need to remember the dua The Prophet (S.A.W) used to teach his companions like he teaches them a verse from the Quran, then we have to recite that dua in each and every sallah during the last sitting before the Salam.
5) Memories the first 10 verses in the beginning of Surah Al-Khaf.

Not just memorizing you need to ponder on it’s meaning and understand it properly.
Alhamdulillah!! This is where I’ll stop.

I pray and hope these details about the Dajjal has helped you in terms of knowing who he is.

May Allah protect and save us from the trials of the Dajjal.

Until next time... Ma’as Salam.
