American Christians need to forcefully address the sin of Republicanism and until they do they will have nothing of value to say to a culture far more aligned with Jesus than they themselves are.
We should talk more about how much U.S. Christianity has been captured by a fairytale that as soon as things are at their worst they’ll be vanished to a holy gated all-inclusive, leaving the unchosen behind to suffer, and how comfortable this makes them w/the suffering of others.
When your cosmology is an evacuation strategy for you and a handful of chosen, beloved of a god who will out of his very goodness torture the rest eternally, you get Republican Christians. A reflection of their own evil god.
If you are a part of an eternal saved elect within a mass of rightfully doomed unrepentants who earned eternal torture from the moment of their birth, I’d observe you get pretty comfortable with segregation and torture and imprisonment and draconian punishment in this life, too.
And yes there are a whole lot of Christians who don’t believe this.
