Rhinoplasty (nose job) was actually widely practised in India not just in ancient times, but also in late 18th century, when it was witnessed by a couple of East India Company physicians, Thomas Cruso and James Findlay, in the Bombay presidency
This rhinoplasty operation was performed by a Maratha potter on a Parsee bullock cart driver - Cowasjee - employed by East India Company, who had lost his nose in the Anglo Mysore war of 1792 against Tipu
The procedure caught the attention of the two English physicians who found it very novel.

The detail of this procedure then found its way into London's The Gentleman's Magazine in its October 1794 issue, in the form of an anonymous letter published by a certain B.L
