Former FBI Director James Comey has asked a federal court to quash a House subpoena that would force him to sit for a closed-door deposition. (He has said he would testify publicly.) 
Comey says he doesn't have a security clearance and was "read out" of the programs the House might want to ask him about. The House Oversight Committee proposed to give him a temporary clearance.
Comey says he wants a court to quash the House subpoena to prevent lawmakers "from using the pretext of a closed interview to peddle a distorted, partisan political narrative about the Clinton and Russia investigations through selective leaks."
Comey has a fairly harsh assessment of House Republicans.
Comey has said he can't discuss classified matters with House investigators because he doesn't have a security clearance. And - after President Trump had mused about revoking the clearance he doesn't have - he said lawmakers can't force him to obtain one.
