I've done this.

I'm more vocal about it now because I realized a few months ago just how common it was. Someone needed to speak up and I try to do that now.
I cried each morning for a month before quitting a horribly toxic job.

My husband would tell me I could and should quit.

I stayed, I was going to win.

It took horribly spraining my ankle, taking sick time to go see if it was broken and them calling to beg me to work.
I worked remotely all afternoon and night. I hobbled into the office the next day for a meeting.

I got yelled at for taking a sick day.

I was up for over 24 hours. I got the client back up.

I turned in my notice on the following Monday.
HR asked me to stay. They would switch me to a different team. I would be protected.

I asked why I wasn't protected earlier.
Only one person at that job understood and supported me quitting. He was a director in a different line. He told me the story about supporting his wife when she quit her good paying engineering job to go be a teacher.
And how he had to defend her decisions to her friends and family, his friends and family, basically everyone.

Money isn't worth your soul.
There is a reason that I use "Have I cried about work each day for a week straight?" as a personal cue to get the hell out of that job.

Because it has happened to me three different times so far.
