2/ According to the press release, Papadopoulos attributes “his rift with former Attorney General Jeff Sessions” as the catalyst that ensnared him in this scandal. 
3/ The “rift” with Sessions relates to the March 31, 2016 national security meeting in DC with Trump. In that meeting, Papadopoulos said he could arrange a meeting between then-candidate Trump and Putin.
4/ The “rift” is that Papadopoulos claims Sessions supported the idea of a Trump/Putin meeting. Sessions denies this. cnn.com/videos/politic…
5/ So how did this “rift” make Papadopoulos the original target of SpyGate and the Mueller investigation? I don’t know, but it makes sense that investigators may have thought Papadopoulos’ persistent efforts for a Trump/Putin meeting meant Papa-D was the spy.
6/ Papadopoulos' first FBI interview was January 27, 2017. It would be remarkable if the FBI was trying to figure out if Papadopoulos was the spy at that early date. Comey was still FBI Director. McCabe & his core group were still at FBI headquarters.
7/ But if the FBI were truly trying to understand SpyGate in Jan 2017, it would explain why the FBI claimed that Papadopoulos' misstatement of when he met Mifsud would negatively affect its investigation.
8/ Was the FBI investigating SpyGate just days after Trump was inaugurated? If so, who authorized this investigation, and who knew about it?
