Idea of delaying the vote shows yet again that Westminster remains too wrapped up in its own issues to see the impact on everyone else.
Businesses have already triggered worst case scenario contingencies because we are now so close to March, and many many others have additional contingency measures that have to start in January. Mostly involving moving staff.
Spoken to a number of businesses over recent weeks who basically don’t know how to tell their staff that there may be redundancies in January if there isn’t a deal agreed by then. Many simply don’t know what to tell their staff and when.
Delaying vote means that at least some will have to give employees some very bad news before Christmas, over which they have absolutely no control- it’s no wonder people are livid with Government and Parliament.
There is no better withdrawal agreement that Brussels will give. Yet to hear anyone propose a realistic change to Withdrawal Agreement that would help and they have other things to fmthing about as well (see France being on fire)
If the PM is going to lose the vote and have to look at a plan B then that has to be sooner rather than later. Cannot and should not try to kick the can any further down the road. People’s livelihoods at stake. /end rant
