The Buster Douglas/Mike Tyson "30 for 30" is so damn good. I can't imagine the shock at that time. I'm not sure if there's been any sports event in my lifetime that comes close.
Even the App. State vs. Michigan game in 2007, as shocking as that was, seems way more plausible.
There's something to be said for concentrated shock, too. Like the Browns going 14-2 next year and winning the Super Bowl would be shocking, but folks would be warmed up for it. Nothing--nothing at all--prepared folks to wake up the next morning and see Douglas beat Tyson.
Oh, and probably the best anecdote: Tyson gets knocked out. His corner man is carrying him off, and Tyson asks what happened. Corner man tells him he got KO'd. Tyson doesn't believe it. He honestly doesn't think his corner man is telling the truth. And can you blame him?
