On November 1, 1984, a mob of 4000 attacked Gurdwara Rakabgunj. Two sikhs, father and son, were burnt alive. Mr Suri, a journalist, witnessed the mob. He told the Commission the mob was led by one man.

That man just became the 18th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

NO ONE comes out clean in this, least of all the CBI that remains as servile and caged as it has always been.

But the fact that this is an SC-ordered investigation, and that Modi never obstructed the CBI when he was the CM, saves him the blushes. Not so the case with Mamata.

This is exactly what I am referring to. The govt is giving the people jigsaw pieces, hoping they would come together over coffee and assemble these to be able to see the final image. It needs to assemble these pieces on its own. Give out one, clear, precise, number.
Mudra is yet another jigsaw piece, like the EPFO and Ola and Samsung factory and other sundry anecdotal jigsaw pieces. All the govt needs to do is to assemble these and give out one precise number. That it isn't doing so is revealing in itself.

Calling a report published by your own ministry as fake? NSSO data has been trusted for decades. 91% (GOI est) of Labour is in the informal sector. EPFO data cannot tell you what NSSO can. Job creation (hard data) and unemployment (survey) are coexisting. RELEASE the NSSO report.
Right now, the only way to gauge unemployment in the 485 million Labour Force, 91% of which is in the informal sector, is via a survey. This is not hard data, like EPFO. If we handed out unemployment dole, we'd know the number precisely. @ncbn has just launched the dole scheme.
Narrative was bound to shift, from Jobs created to Unemployment. Because
A. The opposition will only highlight bad news, perhaps rightly so.
B. The govt has never given a precise number of TOTAL jobs (formal and informal sector) created.
C. No mechanism put in place to gauge B.

The law Miguna Miguna has been charged under was passed to fight, not surprisingly, the peasant irredentism known as the Mau Mau.

It was passed in 1955 but other laws had already been used to charge people with 'administering an illegal oath' in the years before.

To understand just how far back into the colonial model we have sunk, check the dates on the sections on oaths GOK is using. They were all passed after 1950, and seem to have been modified as our colonizers learnt more about the oathing process.

Their survival after 1963 wasn't accidental. Jomo retained the colonial attitude to peasant revolutions, except of course if it was 1969 and busloads were being forced to take the oath in his name.
