remember this bit? wherein we wrote an ebook on observability to show how an obscure technical term from control theory became the buzzword du jour, by identifying the gap between mature tooling solutions and the distributed systems problems we face? honeycomb.io/resources/guid…
WELL SHIT, we made part 2. honeycomb.io/resources/guid…

this guide is for developers in production. skills like debugging in prod, understanding the impact of your code, breaking things on purpose are no longer negotiable -- these are table stakes. and they require observability.
if you are even considering edgy things like "testing in prod" or "chaos engineering" ... do not pass go, you must be this tall to ride this ride ... and "this tall" means you must be able to slice and dice and inspect raw events and their aggregates in real time. observability.
the flood of vendors making claims about "total observability" and "infinite cardinality" and other lipsticks on pigs is starting to gross me out

one of these days i'll subscribe to a bunch of industry accounts and refute every criminal misuse of terminology. 🤔 for a week
... but right now i'm off to get pretty for our company holiday party. @cyen you too. get off the computer. 🌲🤶🎁🎊🦸‍♀️💃💅👯‍♀️
