It transpires someone from CERN called a senior faculty member at my institution to complain about a blogpost in which I had pointed out multiple misleading statements in a video about the LHC follow-up collider (FCC), hosted by CERN. #NotAppropriate
Appropriate reaction: Remove video, produce one that accurately reflects promise of planned new collider. The only thing we know for sure it'll do is produce better measurements of constants in the standard model.
Inappropriate reaction: Call someone you think I'm subordinate to at my institution - which has nothing to do with my blog - and complain about me with the intention to intimidate me.
Let me also show you this interesting comment, von Paola Catapano who is the hear of CERN's A/V program and seems to think it's okay to misinform politicians. Also, they did the same already for the LHC. (I cannot verify the commenter's identity, but have no reason to doubt it.)
(The person who called, I have been told, was a man, so clearly someone else. I do not know who it was.)
And just in case that still isn't clear to someone: All opinions I express on my blog, on twitter, or on facebook, are my own and to not express the views of my employer.
