Actually, @KenDilanianNBC, you have a paid job in media; your income is dependent on you continuing to find "exclusives" even if rehashed and poorly sourced. I write on Twitter for free. If you disagree with what I said in my thread, say so—don't ascribe your profit motive to me.
2/ Moreover, this feed became popular because of my coverage—again, for free—of the 2016 Democratic primary; I stayed on to write about the general election and the Trump-Russia case because I believe this is a national emergency. You may *want* to be on TV and famous; I *don't*.
3/ I'm one of thousands of citizens telling you and your peers, @KenDilanianNBC, why journalism is failing—in fact, my *job* (as in actual career) is to teach journalism at a large public research university. Don't heap your failures on my shoulders. I was and am trying to help.
4/ I wrote a 25-tweet thread laying out why that story is false, @KenDilanianNBC—that's how much I care about getting the story right. In response, you ascribed motives to a man you don't know and refused to reply to even a single observation I made. That's on you—it's not on me.
5/ Having said all that, followers of this feed know I'm obsessive about facts. That's why when I publish something, it has 1,655 endnotes and 2,000 citations—none linking to unnamed "government officials." So if at any time you want to talk *facts*, I'll always be here for that.
PS/ I hope this national nightmare ends *tomorrow*—and anyone who says I think otherwise is a creep who doesn't know the first thing about my values. That's about the nicest way I can put my reaction to @KenDilanianNBC saying I want my country to suffer indefinitely—shame on him.
PS2/ I write for Newsweek for free; I wrote for HuffPo—6 years—for free; Twitter doesn't pay me; I do interviews (CNN, BBC, CBS, &c) for free; my life—see below—has never been guided by money. I wrote Ken to ask for an apology—I have faith he'll offer one. sethabramson.net/bio
PS3/ I wrote a book on the Trump-Russia crisis *because I'm an author*. Writing books is what I *do*—it's how I contribute to society (along with being a teacher, activist, lawyer, and so on). I've been a publishing author for *20 years*—attacking me for that is just plain wrong.
