A paycheck delayed is not a paycheck denied. In effect, federal workers are mostly getting time off on taxpayers dime. This drill has been carried out many, many times before, and every time the crocodile tears flow pretentiously from purveyors of fake news.
Brit Hume and I are on the same page on this (see tweet above).
Details on federal employee paychecks during the holiday season. No one's pay is impacted during the holiday season, and even in the new year, if the govt shutdown continues, paychecks will only be delayed, not cancelled.

1. "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch"
It is the most hopelessly useless piece of crap in the Netflix series. The inability to fast forward or rewind is annoying as hell, and the interactive decision points are patronizing garbage.
2. I abandoned the sorry episode after about 40 minutes as I found it more boring than filling a form in a physician's office. If this is the entertainment of the future, I would much rather take up darning socks for amusement.
3. Could my dislike of this episode have something to do with the fact that I have zero interest in video games? Having engineered and implemented numerous mission critical software systems worldwide, I find it boring to match wits with mundane software programs.

Only in rabid socialist imaginations anything is free.
-- Public schooling isn't free. People pay through their noses for it in property taxes.
-- Social Security isn't free. It's people's own money taken and returned by govt.
-- VA isn't free. People pay for it through taxes.
As for the cutesy "free of cost at the point of service" goes, all consumer purchases all across the world are also "free of cost at the point of service" when people pay with a credit card. But only the dumbest of the dumb think "free at point of service" is free of cost.
And when the federal govt is running a trillion dollar deficit every year since 2009 (and don't you dare blame tax cuts because revenue went UP because of the tax cuts; deficits are caused by run-away spending), your credit card bills will have to be paid by future generations.

1. 2016 Election: A Liberal Paradox (in a few short tweets)
As you know, I respect and value all voters, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and others alike. I don't have the same view of party leaders though, and I loathe liberal mainstream media partisanship.
2. Now I believe "Russia Interference!" is a cruel hoax played by MSM and Democratic leadership on unsuspecting Democrat voters. Because if it isn't, then it creates a mother of all paradoxes for the Democratic base. Let me explain how.
3. Democratic base has been led to believe:
a) Trump won because ignorant American heartland yahoos voted for him, i.e. Republican voters are dumb, Democratic voters are smart.
b) Thousands of Dem voters were influenced by Russian trolls into voting for Trump or Green Party.

On Oct 26 2006 Congress passed The Secure Fence Act 120 STAT. 2638 PUBLIC LAW 109–367 with 283 votes in the House & 80 in the Senate, including unanimous Democratic support. This included $20 billion in funding for multi layer fencing along about 600 miles of the US-Mexico border
This wasn't a solid 600 miles of continuous fencing along the border, this was bits and pieces, mostly erected with surplus Marston Mats used by the Military to laydown in areas that the ground isn't solid enough to handle landing gear, the military has mountains of it.
in 2007 Congress made clear it didn't really mean what it said. The new law was amended to make fence building optional. so you ended up with very little fencing and $20 billion pretty much unaccounted for, dispersed to heavens knows where. No one was held accountable for the $$

@chic_savage He knew that it was just the opening scene of a great drama that had played itself out many times before, and would happen again many times in the future. He also knew that it wouldn't be long before the greatest conflict the world would ever see would engulf the entire globe.
@chic_savage Somehow Spengler could see what history was - like no one before him ever had. Historians believed that history was progressive in the sense that it was an upwards arrow and that each new age was "better" than the last.

World War 1 shattered that illusion. Forever.

If that photo of Rory Best was from today, then I think that’s a really bad judgement call. I understand wanting to support a friend, but he’s also the @IrishRugby captain. Three days out from start of the #SixNations to be appearing in that court, not good.
On whether to support a friend who’s been accused of the things that are on the table here, I think everyone will have a different opinion on that. Some people would disown, some support until court decision, and some people would support a friend regardless.
If the timing was different & there wasn’t a tournament starting on Saturday, would this show of support be okay? I’m not sure. Particularly since the girl involved specifically expressed fear about going up against Ulster rugby (although they might not have known that).
