1. "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch"
It is the most hopelessly useless piece of crap in the Netflix series. The inability to fast forward or rewind is annoying as hell, and the interactive decision points are patronizing garbage.
2. I abandoned the sorry episode after about 40 minutes as I found it more boring than filling a form in a physician's office. If this is the entertainment of the future, I would much rather take up darning socks for amusement.
3. Could my dislike of this episode have something to do with the fact that I have zero interest in video games? Having engineered and implemented numerous mission critical software systems worldwide, I find it boring to match wits with mundane software programs.
4. Don't buy the hype. Software programs can be very complex and very intricate, but there is zero 'intelligence' of the human kind even in machines/systems referred to as Artificial Intelligence. Compared with humans, they are all dumb as door knobs.
5. Computer programs can of course perform mathematical computations accurately and very fast, so they can outperform most humans in playing chess and in searching through mountains of data to look up a specific piece of data, and the like, but that is hardly 'intelligence.'
6. Leaving all that aside, and coming back to Bandersnatch, I also have fundamentally no interest in interactively futzing around with plot lines. When I am looking for passive entertainment to relax, I want the script writers to do all the work and entertain me.
7. If and when I want to tool around with plot lines, I will write my own play or novel, thank you very much. Making a binary choice at random points in someone's else's plot is a nauseating way to 'create your own plot,' so far as I am concerned.
8. It is an open invitation to corporate mavens to treat you like pawns to be jerked around for data collection and profit. F*ck you Netflix. I pay you to provide me entertainment, not the other way around.
