I woke up today in the midst of siblings, parents, nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins and I realized how blessed I am in having loved ones around me especially around this time of the year. To everyone that lost a loved 1 and couldn’t celebrate with them, my prayers are with you.
To everyone that supported me in one way or the other this year; advice, words of encouragement, material stuff, opportunities, access, prayers, helpfully feedback, etc, my hope and prayer is that help will come to you even when you didn’t expect it.
You all made 2018 an amazing year. I can’t pay you all and I can’t thank you enough. But for as long as the earth remaineth, God will bless your labor of love. The works of yours hands will prosper. Thank you for the love and thank you for being patient with me.

So, if I have been slow in replying to your messages or didn’t respond at all, kindly bear with me. ‘Cos this experience still feels like a dream. I am not sure I have fully recovered from the shock.
The entire event lasted like 300 milliseconds. The last I remember was seeing a man jog that evening. Every other thing afterwards feels blur.

I think my dad finally understands what I do for a living. I think. It took 10 years, but I am glad we are here. I also used the opportunity to educate in on how card payment works. It finally made sense to him. Next up; my father in-law.
I think the clincher was explaining to him how I pay for airline tickets. This also reinforces the belief that complex concepts can be made simpler if you can relate it with everyday life.
I think it was also a learning opportunity for me as I struggled to come up with an analogy that made the most sense. It was an opportunity to explain how the PAN, CVV, PIN and OTP all come together to enable a successful transaction.

Wife just reminded me that she witnessed me teach myself to ride a bike along this stretch of park when we were 13. Feeling emotional thinking about it; it feels like a vivid metaphor for the way I have had to teach myself so many things that people usually learn from family
But also how cool that this woman has been next to me for 15 years? I think all in all I am net #blessed
We are here having dinner with her parents, who disapproved of our relationship for a decade - which was the primary source of misery and despair in our lives during that time. Now we’re here laughing and joking with each other over ribs and beer. Life is such a wild trip.

Everyone over the past few days has been talking about Patreon.

for good reason. People believe the Sargon of Akkad ban was egregious. (it shows in Twitter search results for the term "Patreon")

So in this thread I'm going to try and outline the impact the Sargon ban has had.
So, to bring you up to speed.
On December 5th there was the Milo Yiannopoulos ban. I strongly believe that this had some linkage to the Sargon ban (at least in a "hey we should clean house now" sense), so I'll mention it.
And this SEEMED to be the sort of narrative VICE ran with. a "purge" of sorts.

This is the anniversary of the biggest, scariest, most wonderful change in my life. The story is kinda long... 7 years ago today at about 1 a.m. EST I went to sleep a brash, cocky, self-absorbed, arrogant person without a care in the world. The next morning I didn't wake up.
Instead, my best friend from high school and companion on the road trip we were currently taking found me sprawled out on the floor in the midst of a tonic-clonic seizure. Apparently, the shakes of my leg caused me to kick the couch he was sleeping on multiple times.
Knowing that I wasn't epileptic, he proceeded to call the EMTs right away. I seized until they arrived, I seized in the back of the bus, and I seized right up until the doctors put me into a medically induced coma. They call it status epilepticus, a state of persistent seizures.
