First, I agree. But what I think those people are saying is really policy. That he didn't hold people accountable for the crash. That he pushed a half-measure with Obamacare, didn't act on anti-trust etc. Again, I disagree. But to get their point, it's largely abt policy.
2/ Fundamentally, Obama was a moderate liberal, who spent most of his first 2 yrs dealing w mammoth economic crisis. After that he didn't control Congress. Core Bernie advocates are social democrats and not at all institutionalists or incrementalists, both of which Obama is/was.
3/ So I think you have both a fundamentally different policy perspective as well as a more aspirational (untroubled by actual need to govern, pass laws) view of politics. I think both of those figure in, and I at least think they'd agree on the first.
4/ Actually, I misspoke. I don't think incrementalist quite applies to Obama. More ambiguous than that. And for most of his presidency he couldn't pass new legislation. So it was hard to know.
