@TwinPeaksRevolu I really would LOVE a dramedy spinoff featuring the Jones family. By dramedy I mean something like #Lodge49 on AMC: a drama about serious subjects but handled with a light tone and with moments of genuine hilarity and at other times black comedy.
@TwinPeaksRevolu I attempted to write a fanfic along these lines, but I kind of got boxed in along the way. I should take a fresh shot at this. However, seeing something like this in real life would be great. You kind of wish you could "choose your own adventure" at the end of #TwinPeaks S3.
@TwinPeaksRevolu If I was allowed to, I want to follow Dougie, Janey-E and Sonny Jim as they settle in to Dougie's new life. I see Dougie Tulpa v.2 as carrying certain aspects of Coop, particularly the ones that would work for a family man. I can't see Coop leaving his mission, though.
@TwinPeaksRevolu So yeah, the new Tulpa embodies Coop's optimism, Coop's capacity to love, Coop's whimsy, and Coop's quirky sense of humor. He also has enough of Coop's natural sleuthing ability to carry on his work at Lucky 7, as head of Claims Adjustment and Loss Prevention.
@TwinPeaksRevolu Think of Barton Keyes, the genius Claims Adjuster in Double Indemnity. Dougie Jones might not have a little man gnawing at his guts, more like a little man who whispers clues in his ear from another dimension. But same deal...that's what he's now up to for Lucky 7.
@TwinPeaksRevolu He also occasionally helps the Mitchum Brothers with security issues at their casinos. Yes, casinos: that $30 Million check is allowing them to rebuild their dream hotel/casino that burnt down in that fire during construction: the Golden Palomino, sister to Silver Mustang.
@TwinPeaksRevolu Janey-E is still working at the Credit Union, branch manager. But the tract outside Vegas the Jones Family lives in is considering cityhood, and Janey-E is pulled by her convictions towards becoming involved in the cityhood drive.
@TwinPeaksRevolu And then the last ingredient: the real-life Vegas Strip massacre of October 1st, 2017 compels big changes at the FBI office in Las Vegas. Morale issues because of their jerky SAC ("WILSON!!") are determined to have been an issue in the inability to intercept the shooter.
@TwinPeaksRevolu A relatively young and promising woman FBI Special Agent is reassigned to head the office in Vegas: Tamara Preston. She is available because the current administration has ended the Blue Rose Task Force, and forced Director Gordon Cole to retire.
@TwinPeaksRevolu Gordon Cole is now her advisor, and she has a familiar woman at her side as faithful secretary: the real Diane Evans, who found herself in a hallway at the Silver Mustang after exiting the motel room leaving "Richard" Cooper while he was asleep. Diane contacts Cole at that point.
@TwinPeaksRevolu So the Blue Rose Task Force might not be officially alive, but its remnants are now moved from Philly to Las Vegas. They do need to keep an eye on Dougie Jones, an active Blue Rose Case. And they are in an area long a hotbed for the paranormal, and Lodge activity is strong there.
@TwinPeaksRevolu So there you go: Dougie Jones continues to be Coop by any other name. He has a ready-made family. Janey-E is gravitating towards politics. The Mitchum Brothers are doing what they do best and keeping to the straight and narrow. And the Blue Rose Task Force is now in Vegas too.
@TwinPeaksRevolu I was using the working title Dougie Vegas for my fanfic. I am probably going to use it again when I go back to this and write. I have another project that is higher priority, and I am also looking to do some professional writing gigs. But eventually I'll be back to this.
