If you enjoy a thing from the past, the smart and simple thing to do is to create a personal bubble for that content in your own mind. It’s a losing game to insist that other people do the same. You can *invite* them to, but it’s up to them what they choose to get out of it
What happens in practice I think is that so many people have so little confidence in their own under-developed taste that they see other people having different tastes as a *personal attack on them*. This is also why people hate on Marie Kondo, IMO
Yup. IMO this is the sort of straw-man bogeymen projection people do when they are afraid of confronting their own fears and anxieties. A person who truly loves their books would have no problem simply smiling and saying yes I love all my books
Zizek made a similar point about religious fundamentalists, and I’m inclined to agree. If you know your own worth, you don’t have be so worked up about other people opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/09/03/isi…
“But Visa aren’t you getting worked up about whether or not other people are getting worked up” - touché 😂 I’m just here to have fun and make friends, mannn

I think there’s also an element of Popperian “do not tolerate intolerance” here. If you get it, you get it
