One thing I'd add about this smart @benjaminwittes piece is that many of the arguments DOJ could make against providing a report to Congress have been completely undermined by DOJ turning so much over to Meadows & co. the past two years. lawfareblog.com/how-robert-mue…
Trump and House R's worked together to make DOJ turn over all kinds of stuff that has heretofore remained secret. Good luck making the argument now that DOJ investigative materials shouldn't go to the hill. Pandora's box is wide open.
So even aside from questions about a Mueller report, Nadler and Cummings should be able to get their hands on every FBI 302 from the Mueller probe. It's all coming out. Way to think ahead, Mr. President.

You can debate whether Barr will be fair or not, but is there any doubt at all that this memo is why Trump nominated him?
The details of this are stunning. In addition to discussing his memo with Trump’s personal attorneys, Barr also shared or discussed it with Kushner’s lawyer. There is no world in which he doesn’t need to recuse.

Also extremely strange Barr sent it to Noel Francisco. He has no role in the Mueller probe at all, but would’ve overseen it had Rosenstein been fired.

More I think about the NYT story, the more the takeaway for me is the tension between DOJ & FBI in that period, with a worrried and angry FBI taking a dramatic step that would make their investigation unkillable.
The story doesn’t say this explicitly, but it seems the FBI expanded the investigation into POTUS himself without approval from Rosenstein. Wow. That is, shall we say, suboptimal. In their defense, they would’ve had real questions about Rod after he wrote the Comey memo.
So if you’re the FBI and you’re worried your investigation is about to get squashed, what do you to to make that impossible? Up the ante and formally expand it into Trump himself. Tie DOJ’s hands.

This has always been the underlying question of the investigation, but what a call it must have been to make it explicit so early. Bold.
Can also see another reason Rosenstein appointed Mueller. Not just to protect the probe from Trump, but because the FBI was vulnerable to accusations of acting too quickly out of anger over Comey and needed someone unimpeachable in charge.
You’re Rosenstein in May 17 and you’ve just tanked your own reputation by helping fire Comey. Then you find out Trump has been trying to block the probe for months and the FBI has now opened a counterintel probe into POTUS. No wonder he was melting down.

I am a renewable energy developer. I take an idea out of my head and create a project out of thin air. I secure some land with transmission to get power out. My team then makes the financial case and then I go ask for $millions to in the Billions.
There is a process to this that I won't bore you with but it is very similar to large real estate development. Back in early 2000, myself and Peter Duchan decided we were going to develop utility solar in CA deserts. No one had ever done a project this size.
Now there are projects everywhere out there. Developers came from around the world to follow our lead. I watched many pull in $Billions on ideas. You can not prove a project until it is up and running. Kind of like you don't know if your casino will work until opened.

If you marry up or down, class-wise, that matters. If you have another adult in your house paying half the bills, that matters. If your partner has or makes or comes from the kind of $ that provides permanent financial stability, that matters. If they have no income, that matters
And these shifts up or down in class matter too. I grew up middle class in a high-class place and that afforded me privilege that doesn't go away just because I have a downturn in finances.

1/ Whenever I ask for evidence of Trump-Russia collusion, I get this circular-reasoning response:
How do you know that there was no collusion?
My answer: I'm NOT claiming there was no collusion, but I see #ZEROEvidence that Trump colluded. SHOW me your EVIDENCE!
2/ If I were to claim that you murdered someone, I would need to provide evidence of this. My claim does not make it have some sort of merit. If you insist you did not do this and want me to stop pushing such as accusation in public b/c it really did not happen, that makes sense.
3/ Would an innocent person remain silent in the face of a massive campaign by those who don't like that person making unsubstantiated claims? Would they not want to put an end to it? If I were #Trump, I would want this thing shut down too as it looks to be a witch hunt.
