This guy is a pathetic but emblematic example of the combination of personal callousness toward the unfortunate & utter ignorance about gov’t that is too common on the right. So, let’s list some of these non-essential jobs he thinks (without knowing) probably shouldn’t exist. 1/8

Bottom line: most of us have little idea about most of what our gov’t does. It’s largely invisible to us, either because it affects people we don’t know, or because it’s mainly about preventing bad shit. But just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s worthless. 9/9
