I asked Andrew for his letter to JRM - and here it is in full. Pages 1 & 3 make the only mention.
Both are about the Free Movement framework and whether it would continue or not (depriving UK citizens too).
The emphasis is not about non-Brits currently in UK.

So you’ll notice that JRM’s answer absolutely dodges the issue of depriving UK citizens of future FoM rights.
It also avoids rights of current UK citizens reliant on FoM framework for residence.

He is clearly focused on the Brexiter trope of a future ‘fair’/non-discriminatory immigration system where EU = RoW, ignoring the mutual benefits of bilateral immigration-related agreements.
He is not explicitly proposing current non-Brit EU residents lose their rights.

That’s why I find the reporting below irresponsible.
It is personal to me & many others.
And in an environment where there has been substantial mistreatment of non-Brits, broken promises, “bargaining-chips”, H.O. “errors” & changing policies... very little is unrealistic.

1) You should read the full JRM letter. It is a litany of casual errors, polished eloquently.
2) The fate of UK citizens in EU and fellow EU citizens in UK is far from satisfactorily sorted, providing ongoing substantial anxiety.
