There is no personal vendetta. You are the licence payer funded BBC flagship politics interviewer, and the Chairman of a hard right magazine whose articles praise the Wehrmacht, claim black people have lower IQs than white people, and defend Greek neo-nazis. These are facts.
You hired a Nazi, @afneil - the world's leading Holocaust denier - David Irving. According to Deborah Lipstadt, who Irving sued, you rescued his "reputation from the ignominy to which it had been consigned." Maybe you want to sue her too. Word of advice. It didn't go well for him 
The fact you announced you were hiring a Nazi, @afneil - yes, a Nazi, the world's most famous Holocaust denier - caused outrage even amongst Conservative MPs. And then you think you can host an impartial BBC discussion about the media's role in legitimising the far right.
We could go on. When you were editor of the Sunday Times, @afneil, your newspaper ran articles claiming that HIV did not AIDS. Let me put this to you gently. The theory that HIV does not cause AIDS has killed people. (newstatesman.com/society/2009/1…)
Here's the facts, @afneil. I was invited to talk about the role of the media legitimising the far right. You're the Chairman of a magazine which publishes articles defending the Wehrmacht and Greek neo-Nazis. You yourself hired a Nazi and rescued his "reputation from ignominy".
For too long, the mainstream media has been allowed to get along with legitimising, mainstreaming and amplifying racism, from The Spectator to The Sun to The Daily Mail to The Times to The Express to The Telegraph. Time's up.
To those reading this. You are the license payer. You fund the BBC. Here is a straightforward question. Are you happy funding the salary of a Chairman of a magazine which publishes articles praising the Wehrmacht or claiming black people have lower IQs than white people?
