Since it came up in another context: if you want to help deal with game companies abusing their employees by using the threat of online mobs as a cudgel, don't talk about what ArenaNet did to me, or Riot did to its employees in the past tense. Because it's still happening.
ArenaNet actively solicited mob harassment against Peter and me. And they have never said, "hey, GW2 fans, quit sending them death and rape threats." The threats and harassment continue. ArenaNet didn't do harm to me--it's *still doing* harm to me.
As for them being a better company because they hired Jennifer Scheurle (who I'm happy got the job she wanted, to be clear--I don't fault her for taking it), they're not. The bar for being better is on the floor--tell their fans to quit harassing people--and they can't clear it.
It's debatable if you deserve any credit for being better if you stop doing harm but never own up to it. But that's not what's going on here. The harm's still happening.

As far as there's any evidence, all they've done is hire a woman & tell her they're going to treat her well.
Which they did with me. And the women who left or got fired before me that I didn't listen to when I was hired because the company was saying nice things.
So hold your applause. They have done nothing to indicate any sort of even *intent* to do better, let alone *action* to do better.
And I'm going to hang out with friends right now, but tomorrow, I'll tell you about the warning signs I should have paid attention to, but didn't because honeymoon period.
