I have no patience for outright despair. I have no patience for self-virtuous, puritanical devotion to defeat & doom. It is a self-protective surrender that excuses people from action—from the disappointment of trying & losing anyway.

I also have no patience for baseless optimism & the perpetuity of stagnant modes of change-making. Action must be responsive to truth, & the truth demands urgency that outpaces familiar routes to change.

Both outright doom & doing more of the same are grounded in maintaining a sense of comfort, but the future is uncomfortable. Both are ways of excusing oneself from the discomfort of the experimental, bold action this moment demands. I have lost patience for excuses.

This moment is not about you & your comfort—it’s about everyone. Therefore, we need everyone, and there is solidarity in struggle. It’s time to wake up, embrace uncertainty, and move forward, together.

It’s time to be brave.
