Christians of colour are invisible in Canada and it’s been masterfully designed this way.
BIPOC have been formed within a narrative of colourblindness where living out the fulness of our identity is fundamentally rejected by the institution.

In order to survive one has to live out a characterization of themselves denying their own existing to belong. This system assuages racial tension by perpetuating the myth everything is OK—that racism no longer exists.
Of course, that's a profound lie.

Unfortunately, in Canada there are few safe spaces for minorities to exist.
I’ve looked and haven’t found ONE that exists outside of the power structures of the institution. (That's not to say there isn't one.)

Some friends & I are curating safe space for Christian minorities in Canada to begin the process of de-centering whiteness and recapturing their identities in Christ.
There's a lot of room to re-imagine faith outside of the bounds of institution, and we're going to explore it.

I was struck once again by the need for this resource as I sat in a lecture last night. The topic was: 'Is Reconciliation Possible?'. The questions the well meaning white folks posed were the same.

This came from one of the most "progressive" denominations in Canada.
So close, but so deeply entrenched in maintaining whiteness.
I felt bad for the professor. He's been through the same scenario hundreds, perhaps thousands, of times before.

His name is Dr. Ray Aldred. He was my theology prof. Only now, 10+ yrs later do I appreciate and recognize the value of learning from a Cree man.
