BIPOC have been formed within a narrative of colourblindness where living out the fulness of our identity is fundamentally rejected by the institution.
Of course, that's a profound lie.
I’ve looked and haven’t found ONE that exists outside of the power structures of the institution. (That's not to say there isn't one.)
But I'm here today to tell you that's changing.
There's a lot of room to re-imagine faith outside of the bounds of institution, and we're going to explore it.
A lot of shared sentiment w/o any demonstrable action.
So close, but so deeply entrenched in maintaining whiteness.
I felt bad for the professor. He's been through the same scenario hundreds, perhaps thousands, of times before.
It's unfortunately rare for any pastor to learn from any source outside of white theology.
But there's hope.
It's time to deconstruct whiteness in the Canadian church.
It's time to reconstruct a re-imagined faith across this land.
It's time.
