Schumer: Democrats said all along that we should separate the funding of government from the border debate, "and that's what we got." He thanks federal workers, slams “administration who treated them as hostages, who treated them as pawns, who belittled their financial strain.”
Schumer: “Democrats are firmly against the wall," but they have enough agreements with Republicans on other border security measures that it "bodes well for finding an eventual agreement."
Pelosi: “It’s sad, though, that it’s taken this long to come to an obvious conclusion.”
Pelosi says the State of the Union has not been settled. She said she told Trump they could talk about it when the government was open, and they'll do that.
Asked if she can assure the public all this won't happen again in February, Pelosi says, “I can’t assure the public on anything the president will do. But I do have to say I’m optimistic.”
