It's really past time for all of the aging white men to sit the fuck down and give their unrestrained support to one or more of the highly qualified brown women who are running.
Making a comment like this really brings all the unselfconscious liberal racists out of the woodwork. They like to mansplain to me about how we need to elect on merit. Yeah. That’s been working pretty well so far.
I guess they are just worried that aging white men aren’t gonna be heard amidst the thundering rush to gather breathlessly around all the brown women hogging the microphone.

Look what followed me home today! 500 board feet of locally grown Cypress. 10/4 slabs! This will make a series of dining tables for our event space on the Ranch.
About 100 years ago, the local ranchers planted rows of trees as windbreaks on their chicken, sheep, and cattle ranches in Western Marin and Sonoma counties. They planted, regretfully, a lot of eucalyptus, but they also planted many lovely rows of cypress trees.
Almost all the chicken ranches are gone, & most of the sheep, & the cow dairy business was thrashed by mega-dairies in the south, so many new land owners want the cypress rows trimmed back. To be fair, some of the cypress was dying, too. So there’s a reasonably good supply.

I understand that you believe that we need the best policy maker. I do not. I think we’ve gotten so far away from the proper path that we can dramatically fix our policies with a blunt instrument. 1
What’s more, I believe that we need power, and that power does not come from policy but from having a big majority of votes. So I want votes. 2
As has been said with tongue in cheek, the winner of the last election wasn’t republicans or Democrats, it was: Did Not Vote. 3

The problem is manifold, and folks like you want to pretend it's singular.
So you want to build the utopian ideal of the Second Avenue Subway?
Great.

That means cut-and-cover construction for the entire line (so it can be done at a convenient shallow depth).
Problem: There's already a city here, with infrastructure. So we need to relocate that infrastructure (utility corridors for water, sewer, electric, telecom, steam, etc.)

One day we need to have a conversation about the blank check of "respect" we give to military veterans just because "they served"

It's starting to get on my nerves because its used as a weapon
1. the US military hasn't "fought for our freedom"* since the revolutionary war.

*"our freedom" means white ppl. You could MAYBE make a case for the Civil War being fought for black ppl's freedom but we all know the caveats there
2. It's a volunteer army. Folks signed up for this shit. Most of the most outspoken "I fought for your freedom" people wanted to go into the military and wanted to see action. They get to see action then have to deal with the consequences of that & want us to feel bad

Genji was back at one of the bases he was so used in the past. He never thought he would, but he was there, surrounded by very familiar faces. And new ones too.
Because of that, he didn't really want to take off his mask, but Lena was being so insufferable about it he didn't think he had a choice. But if he needed to be honest, he missed her too. And the all the rest, his old partners, friends. Well, some of them, at least.
So he took it off and smiled to her, who was clearly so happy seeing him again it made him a little emotional. Too many memories.
She squeezed and kissed his cheeks, and like always, chattered nonstop.
