I’ve been seeing a lot of skincare questions floating around which is typical because winter is a meanass muhfucka.

Here’s some one-size-fits-all tips for ya:

•hyaluronic acid is your best friend. Find a serum and apply it under your moisturizer and/or after you’ve bathed.
Hyaluronic acid keeps your skin supple and moist and it increases the absorption of anything you apply after it. The “acid” bit of it is misleading as it is not caustic on the skin at all!

•speaking of bathing: if you’re experiencing dry skin or flare-up of a skin
condition like eczema, ease up on the inferno showers. Regular steaming hot showers dry your skin out just like the devil wants.

•blue tansy oil!!! This sweet, sweet beautiful oil of a flower is best used overnight. Whether you suffer from light acne, little bumps on
your skin, or uneven skin whether it mean skin tone or dry patches, this baby is going to help you out. It’s so sweet and pretty. Just thinking about it makes me want to hug something.

•segueing into spots/zits/pimples/et al: add sublimed sulphur to your face wash! I’d say
3-4 tablespoons is a good amount! Leave it on for a bit! It’s got a funky smell (if you’re not familiar with the smell of sulphur), but it helps get rid of your funky spots. Bootsy would be proud. It’s also good for when you need your face to feel really cleansed which
•BAM, onto cleanser: I so so much disapprove of clear face washes unless it’s one you don’t use too often. Your facial cleanser should be the pearly, creamy kind. The clear kind is made to remove dirt and oil which in turn removes moisture. If you remove moisture and
oil daily, your skin retaliates by breaking out or creating TOO MUCH oil to overcompensate for the oil it’s been stripped off. The same thing applies to shampoos, by the way! If you wash with clear-type shampoo frequently, you’ll end up with an oily scalp which explains your
oily hair.

All of the above are tried and true from a professional (my job) standpoint and from someone who’s had to figure out a good skin regimen because I have ECZEMA.

•not many people know this but eczema is a painful, annoying lil bitch and I’ve been able to
successfully manage its ass recently. This one might only apply to me but it might help someone: Nix the hot showers, exfoliate LIGHTLY or use African black soap (the authentic African style one, not one manufactured by X brand). Leave the soap on for a little bit, it might
sting but you’ll notice that the next morning the scales and patches are a bit tighter and dried out. After I wash off the African black soap or exfoliate, I’ll moisturizer with coconut oil or Shea butter. Really let your skin soak that in. The pain and itchiness won’t be as
intense the next day. And, for me, it heals up much more rapidly (within days) compared to leaving it alone or using medicated lotions.

Feel free to ask me questions.
Hydrate.
Drink wine.
Eat tacos.
Prosper.
This is the part where I add a picture of my glistening skin during golden hour. Instead I’ll provide some testimonials:

“Yeah your skin is always amazing”
@Kieeraaa

“Guau jor skin ees so nice what joo put on?”
—my mom

“ You’re a sexy shiny hotdog.”
— me to myself very drunk
