🚨 Whoa! Interesting #FuckFuckJerry update, per a helpful source who sent me this tip. Today, the FJ Instagram account deleted 260 posts! Last column is new media uploads/removals. cc @timheidecker @VicBergerIV @pattonoswalt 
The green column in the middle is the # of followers added per day. You will notice that since #FuckFuckJerry began, the amount of followers added per day went from averaging 5 digits to 4, and then look at today - wow! Compare gaining 11.8k followers per day to just under 2k.
This is a solid argument that if enough comedians and other people with influence got behind this cause, and made posts letting their followers on Twitter and Instagram know this account is built on stolen content and shouldn't be followed, a real change could happen.
I got a (fascinating and insightful) email from someone today who works in this industry, and a lot of these people badly want this change to happen. What if we could shift the perception so that following these meme repost accounts is seen as bad/supporting theft?
I wish more people with influence would get on this train. FuckJerry is not the only guilty party here, and there are techy internet experts who might be able to propose some solutions for the future. I just wanted to chip away at those followers!
Example: Look to Tim Heidecker's IG post. It's right on the same platform, which makes it really easy for his fans to quickly jump over to the FuckJerry IG page, and he has over 1,000 comments from fans unfollowing. And the comments are funny/give me hope! instagram.com/p/BtPVDvFHT6d/
Vic Berger's IG post is the same deal. Almost 7,000 comments so far. Quite a few accounts with large followings have expressed under both of these IG posts that they unfollowed. This is what is desperately needed for this to be effective. instagram.com/p/BtRcMkYlTOZ/
I realize making a boring-looking IG post using a hashtag is lame, and trust me, I hate myself for using a hashtag for a whole week, but the only way for this to be effective is to fight back using the same power that allowed FuckJerry to thrive: social media influence.
Ask people with large followings to do this on IG. Ask people who make original, funny content on IG to do this. Do it yourself, and tag people you know. Tell your friends and ask them to. Text your mom and tell her the internet is weird. It feels impossible but it can be done.
There are other accounts that do this, but I think the way FuckJerry profits off this & profits off a foundation of stolen work - and charges brands for ads based on their 14.3m followers - takes it to new territory. Showing them we've had enough might kick-start a bigger convo.
Look how engaged @VicBergerIV is - we need more of this. Time to get to work. 💪
And a new update: For the first time maybe ever, FuckJerry LOST Instagram followers! And deleted 9 more posts.
Another #FuckFuckJerry update: They lost followers AGAIN, and this time it was much more! Yesterday they lost 4.6k followers, and today they lost **17.5k!** This is working!
