Except I stepped on a quite interesting poll from 2006 (that can be found here: web.archive.org/web/2010050100… -may I suggest you save it, it may not last?) that seems to suggest the apolitical TPA actually cared a lot about politics. 
As in, you know, it's in the title.
This document does address people's opinion about taxes.
The funny thing is it also asks for opinions not even remotely close to taxes.

Please note that, as early as 2006, TPA adressed a "crucial issue":

Also, you can see here that, according to this poll, an overwhelming majority of UK people apparently dream of being ruled by Google or Tesco.

BTW, Matthew was kind of a "late player" here.
