I'm personally partial to the views from Grizzly & that one spot on Nimitz where you get 360s of the delta & Diablo & Tam & SF & Valley, but I know not everyone likes the same views I do.

Old white Berkeley folks need to recognize their views are not the only views.

This is kind of personal but it's Friday night from a long week & I need to vent/celebrate On Here a minute.

I'm in love with the Bay Area & feel like everyone in the world should live here. Lived here 20 years & still discover new, stunningly beautiful places/things every week.
Last weekend we hiked up a tropical canyon on north end of Mt. Diablo, through glittering Manzanita & pumping waterfalls. Two days ago I woke early & rode out to Miller-Knox Park - yeah, you've never heard of it - and watched the sunrise over the Bay. instagram.com/p/Bs54s3NHYFa/

Oh look, Berkeley's Climate Action Plan was updated and ... Pollution from cars up 8.5%, now represents 60% of our carbon emissions.

Tonight, city will consider blocking new housing to protect views of Berkeley residents. Because we're a progressive city. cityofberkeley.info/climate/
AND CAL STUDENTS WON THE DAY! They saved a large apartment building downtown - literally upstairs from a BART station - while Berkeley's most toxic NIMBYs turned out in force.

We beat them. And the NIMBYs on the council all abstained, instead of voting no.

Things are changing.
I know the housing wars often lend themselves to hyperbole, but the most toxic NIMBYs in Berkeley - like, the pros, the old-time full-timers - were actually in the room for this and having a 6-0 vote on this with them in the room tastes sweeter than you can possibly imagine.

White male student gets recorded saying he "loves white people" and Columbia University is holding an open space for reflection in response to that "incident."

NBC journalist @kfloresguzman is currently writing a hit piece on the boy that was recorded.
The student in question doesn't say anything remotely racist, but the university "unequivocally denounced" him. The University officials also lie, they claim that "painful language directed toward students of color" were spoken.

What's most interesting is that in the video, one of the people heckling him thinks it's okay to put her hands on his face. Another one shouts "degenerate" at him.

He doesn't insult them once.

This is what they're attacking him for.
