AND CAL STUDENTS WON THE DAY! They saved a large apartment building downtown - literally upstairs from a BART station - while Berkeley's most toxic NIMBYs turned out in force.

We beat them. And the NIMBYs on the council all abstained, instead of voting no.

Things are changing.
I know the housing wars often lend themselves to hyperbole, but the most toxic NIMBYs in Berkeley - like, the pros, the old-time full-timers - were actually in the room for this and having a 6-0 vote on this with them in the room tastes sweeter than you can possibly imagine.
