This is kind of personal but it's Friday night from a long week & I need to vent/celebrate On Here a minute.

I'm in love with the Bay Area & feel like everyone in the world should live here. Lived here 20 years & still discover new, stunningly beautiful places/things every week.
Last weekend we hiked up a tropical canyon on north end of Mt. Diablo, through glittering Manzanita & pumping waterfalls. Two days ago I woke early & rode out to Miller-Knox Park - yeah, you've never heard of it - and watched the sunrise over the Bay. instagram.com/p/Bs54s3NHYFa/
This weekend we're going to a play at a neighborhood theater down the street about gun violence produced by an epic friend (y'all should check it out, Aaron is amazing): shotgunplayers.org/Online/default…
The best Ethiopian food around is ... the veggie one two blocks west, and Lemat (!!!) over by Ashby, and the four old standards up on Telegraph. We can ride our bikes to BART and be in The Town in 5 minutes. Or ride all the way to New Parish for hip-hop or alt or some craziness.
And I'm *still* goo-goo over San Francisco, the city that spit me out for not being rich enough. I know every corner of that city - the trails through Presidio, the smoking spot on Tank Hill, the bench with the best view in Buena Vista park, the best soup in the Outer Sunset.
I can't understand - like, literally, can not relate to - someone who thinks this place *belongs to them.* I'm a homeowner, by luck more than anything, and every time we go to one of these magical spots I say, "Good lord we're lucky, everyone should get to experience this."
How someone can call themselves "progressive" & not want more people to live here is just, like, I don't get it.

Of course you should be able to live here. This place is for everyone. We've got plenty of room. This week, we took one more small step toward making that possible.
Thank you, @loridroste and @RashiKesarwani and @JesseArreguin and @BenBartlettCA and Susan.

We need more housing because we're in a crisis. But we also need more housing because, this place is contagious, and I think it would be very good if we infected everyone with its magic.
